Reflux

Deep breathing and digestion…
A recent study observed that deep breathing exercises could significantly reduce instances of reflux in individuals with a diagnosed reflux disorder (gastro oesophageal reflux disorder).
This study observed that deep breathing could reduce the build-up of pressure in the stomach and alter the tone of the muscular band between the stomach and oesophagus known as the lower oesophageal sphincter.
Deep breathing after only 2 days reduced oesophageal acid exposure after eating from 11.8% to 5.2%. (Halland et al., 2021)
